The Secret to Intensifying a Scene

In my film class last semester I became extremely intrigued with how camera angles were used to intensify certain scenes. The scene below  is one of my favorites because it is the shot and the angles that contribute to the greatness of the scene. This scene is a shot reverse shot, which is a film technique that displays transitional shot between two characters in most cases those characters are having a conversation.  Sara (the little girl) and Miss Minchin (the older woman) are engaged in a conversation. Sara is looking up at miss Minchin with teary eyes and the sadness in her face is intensified by the stark look of steal on Miss Minchin's face. If we hadn't seen both of their faces the audience would not have been able to feel the emotions of the characters.
Shot Reverse Shots are my Fav.

  1. This is such a good example of an interesting reverse shot (love this movie). I like that angle also is used to show the relationship between these two characters (Sara starts out below Miss Minchin, but rises over the course of the exchange). Mimi
